課程概述

This course examines the culture and institutions of knowledge production and dissemination. The subjects under study include both scientific and non-scientific knowledge. It reviews four themes: 1. culture of academic institutions and disciplines; 2. culture of scientific knowledge; 3. oral and print culture; 4. cultures of non-intellectual knowledge, such as medicinal, sexual, and national. 

課程目標
 1.To offer students basic skills about how to comprehensively analyze a big country like China.

2.To facilitate students to understand current debate about post-Mao China’s local/urban/regional development issues.

3.To provide a collective learning environment to update latest news of China in all-possible dimensions.
 
課程要求
 Close reading of the assigned material BEFORE class. Active Discussion in class.
